KALD MIG FAR / CALL ME DAD is a comedy series based on an idea by actors Alex Høgh Andersen and Magnus Haugaard. With the two actors in the leading roles, the six-episode series promises to be an awkward affair that will pull at your heartstrings and make you cringe.
Friends through and through
Timid Emil and self-confident Viktor are lifelong friends and partners in a sustainable catering company. When Viktor begins dating Helle, Emil's mother, a highly unusual family face-off begins. Family relations, friendships and partnerships are put to the ultimate test as Emil struggles to come to terms with his new “dad”.
Alex Høgh Andersen and Magnus Haugaard are best friends in real life and CALL ME DAD is their lovechild - “It was our love for each other that fostered the idea, and we want that feeling to run through the whole process”, Magnus says.
The creators and the cast
CALL ME DAD is written by Søren Felbo (Orkestret) and directed by Christian Dyekjær (Guru) - “My vision is to create a contemporary comedy that exudes visual and narrative richness. The show will entertain while exploring topics such as how we treat each other and our shared world today. It’s a pleasure to work with two of the best acting talents of their generation”, Christian says.
Alex Høgh Andersen (Vikings) stars as Emil, while Magnus Haugaard (Guilt) and Ellen Hillingsø (Dopamin) play the two lovebirds, Viktor and Helle. The series stellar ensemble also includes Roberta Reichhardt (Baby Fever), Johanne Milland (The Venus Effect), Søren Sætter-Lassen (Seaside Hotel), Peter Gantzler (The Legacy), Lone Rødbroe (Borgen), Bjarne Henriksen (Cry Wolf), Lila Nobel (The Rain), and Oscar Dyekjær Giese (Chernobyl).
CALL ME DAD recently completed filming in Copenhagen and is slated to premiere on Viaplay across the Nordic region in early 2023. The series is produced for Viaplay by Trin Hjortkjær Thomsen and Laura Frederikke Kragholm from Nordisk Film Series.
